Our Oral Hygienist
Marlize Nel
Marlize is an oral hygienist at BF Dental & Cosmetic Studio in Wilderness who has a keen interest in orthodontics and esthetics. In 1997, she completed her training as an oral hygienist at the University of Stellenbosch. During the year 1998, she was also privileged to attend the AAO congress in San Diego. Further to her qualification as an independent oral hygienist, she has successfully established her own whitening clinic in Parys since August 2022 and achieved BlancOne Silver status.
Originally from Parys, Free State, Marlize moved to George in 2024. A former Georgiet, she has always wished to return to her hometown. It is with great gratitude that she has now been granted this opportunity. In addition to her love of her work, she is passionate about people, particularly children and strives to make a positive impact on the lives of others. She is also the owner of Circle Ceramics, where she offers workshops and creates clay sculptures. She plans to continue this work part-time along the Garden Route.
Better teeth
Better Health
It is the role of an Oral Hygienist to prevent, detect, remineralize and conserve healthy tooth structure. As a result, more and more patients can maintain their original teeth for the duration of their lives.
What to Expect
DURING A VISIT TO THE ORAL HYGIENIST
A professional scale and polish is performed to remove plaque and calculus, which are major causes of gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss.
Topical treatments such as fluoride may be applied to reduce sensitivity and strengthen teeth against decay.
Your oral hygiene routine will be evaluated based on its effectiveness. You will be provided with suggestions for products and methods of use tailored specifically to your needs.
During an oral hygiene appointment, the oral hygienist can also discuss topics such as tooth whitening, fissure sealant, orthodontic alignment, bruxism, occlusal guards, mouthguards, diet advice and any other problems or questions you may have.
